You could do it one of two ways, one less involved than the other. Firstly, you could dig around in the d3.hog untill you find the .wav that contains that sound. Then get your maniacal laughter .wav, make sure it is the correct format, and then rename it to the name of the actual sound. After you've...

Carried out by researchers in Bell Labs in Villarceaux, France, the successful transmission of 16.4 Tbps of optical data over 2,550 km was assisted by Alcatel's Thales' III-V Lab and Kylia, an optical solution company. The researchers utilized 164 wavelength-division multiplexed channels modulated ...

The way I've done it was to open the level that you want in D3edit, join all rooms together, and the save off as a .orf, open it in the OOF editor, and save as .oof. Then get the 3DSgen from www.planetdescent.com which should convert it to .3ds. But for the terrain, you will probably need to tell it...

I use Firefox mainly, and IE6 when I need to view a IE only page. I absolutely shunned IE7 due to their messed up interface (compared to IE6). Clearly, if I wanted to use it I would take the time to sit down and figure out where things are, but since I don't, I haven't. Also, the lack of a good Adbl...

Re:
Uh, yeah, generally you can turn the sensitivity up to deal with that. You can crank it up all you want, but that will NOT make your ship turn faster at a certain point and above, that would be known as mouselook, and kills the game physics. There is a certain speed limit on how high you can spin a...

Re:
How are they not going to be able to turn fast enough? Sure banking can let you turn a bit faster in D3, but surprisingly most of the time you only use it to stay level not for the turning speed advantage. That is to say, to do a full rotation, without keys set to left and right rotation, they will...

Parent teacher chats would be so much more effective if they were all done via email. Only if it isn't a part of the normal parent-teacher conferences. Nothing can substitute for a face to face chat. Clearly a teacher will have other things to do than talk to parents, and can't drop what they're do...

Unfortunately, as nice as all that is, if you do that, allow locking, then those players will get killed simply because they won't be able to turn around fast enough. Despite how high your sensitivity is, you can only rotate at a certain rate, no two ways about it. So now you'll have players that wi...

Re:
If you use it excessively and or as an excuse to not have to actually interact with your child it is wrong. If you use it in addition to staying in communication, you are watching over and watching out for your child like any parent should. Agreed. Using it is cool, over using it is uncool. And abo...

Re:
Only under that flawed logic can one ignore the simple fact that every popular PC game uses the mouse. From BioShock to World of Warcraft, from Oblivion to Half-Life 2. Players do not want to learn gobs of keyboard combinations and buy joysticks in order to play a game. Even back when Descent was p...

Re:
Firstly, "ground-pounder" is an anachronism, as it excessively simplifies the issue... would you call Oblivion a ground-pounder? World of Warcraft? The original concept for Descent 4 (which had on-foot sequences)? Ground-pounders, that meaning that the whole point of the game is to run ar...
