I do plan to add coronas, though I will not likely be using the corona system built into unreal 2004. (at least not exclusively) I’m planning on trying out a new method I came up with a few days ago. I considered adding in ambient fog, and I still may, my current concern however is that fog is not l...

Some new (higher resolution) screen shots. I softened up and tweaked the lighting in a lot of the rooms. I made some new meshes for the corridors, and the fan. Enjoy. I have a preliminary / provisional reactor model done, though I will likely modify it greatly or rebuild a completely different model before finishing the level. I textured this model without UVing it and stuck in the level to get a feel for how it would look and what style I might want use when mod...

I did notice that the functionality for several things in the editor are usable in the game, however I found a number of Interesting ways to doing things that are not ordinarily possible. As it happens, you can place an emitter, and edit it’s light properties to make produce light. Interestingly tho...

I have finally gotten around the bug. Fortunately I back up pretty often, but in this case I ended up duplicating the package contents, loading them into a new “clean” level then literally selecting all the actors at once and then cutting and pasting them into the new level. Everything worked perfec...

The drops all have lifts, so you can get from anywhere to anywhere else on foot. In image 21 if you look down through the shaft you can see a little circular thing on the ground. That’s a lift that can be called with a use trigger, visible in that image as a little ring touching the top left side of...

Thanks! :D I hope to have the base level done soon. I will likely first build a deathmatch version, though I also plan to release an Onslaught playable version, and a Capture The Flag version. In the Onslaught version the reactor will be one of the power cores, I’m thinking I’ll place the other in t...

Descent 1 Level Recreation in Unreal 2004

UPDATE: A prerelease of the map is now available for download. See: Release page --------------------------- Descent 1 Level Recreation in Unreal 2004 I’m not sure exactly where this should go, so I apologize in advance if it’s the wrong spot. I am nearing the completion of an unreal tournament 200...

Compiling a working .dll (for mod use)

I am now using VC++ 6 and I have finally been able to compile a dll, but it does not work in D3. For example, I compiled Anarchy without changing anything and the dll was 233KB where as the actual Anarchy.dll from descent 3 is 125KB. To test my dll I opened the Anarchy.d3m and replaced the o...

Thanks guys. I tried the mn3 editor built into D3edit and it is so much better I can’t believe I used Mn3edit while building GroupC, when I could have been using D3edit this whole time. So thanks again Kyouryuu, that will be a big help. Also thanks for the info about Mn3edit Duper. I had suspected t...

Is there a better alternative to mn3edit?

The mn3edit.exe tool that comes with Descent 3 seems to use nearly any excuse to corrupt an mn3. Add a level to a reopened mn3 corrupts the mn3, Changing a level in a reopened mn3 corrupts the mn3, speaking too loudly around a reopened mn3 corrupts the mn3. Is there any other mn3 tool that is better...

I just released a mod called GroupC a bit ago, and in it, the counter measures have been replaced by a few robots and specialized Gunboys. e.g. The normal gunboy pickup (on the left) gives you a deployable Flame RAS robot (on the right). (you know the red bot that says, ?Burn!?). When deployed, it w...

I just checked the source coded for ?Entropy? again, but no luck. I inadvertently included the worst kind of type-o in my last post. What I meant to say was ?I?m not terribly clear on the workflow for compiling and linking in the D3skd.? I fixed the post. At any rate, when I compile the cpp from the...

Sorry about posting in the wrong spot, and thanks for fixing that. Thanks for your reply. I would have thought that the load-table code would be in the DLLGameInit too, but it is not there in any form as far as I can tell. This might be because ?Anarchy? doesn?t use any table files. The problem is n...

D3 sdk Help: Using table files in a d3m. Compiling a dll.

Hello everyone. I was look for some help with the following... I am very near posting release 2 of GroupC, and I was considering trying to package GroupC as a d3m game type. (So that it would be usable with any map) I have done quite a bit of research to that end, but there is very little to go on. ...
