Ok, I'll bite... what are God's motives? hmmm... God does not go into a hospital and decide 'You live... you die'. To claim any motive is not God's motive is to claim to know what is in the heart and mind of a god. Why would you think God's motives are different from any other god's? All gods have f...

Ok, here's my two cents worth:  Make a simple room, a small cube will do. It must be used as the first room in a new level. All faces need to be 'rainbow' texture, it shows in the browser as some colors with 'Outrage Test' on it. Now, mark all faces and, in world view, select 'Link Marked to E...

I use FireFox. I have IE 7, Opera, Safari and SeaMonkey to test my websites with. I haven't had any stability problems with FF. IE 6 gained a reputation as a security risk, IE 7 blocks a lot of things like ActiveX and JavaScript by default. It's rather annoying to have to allow it at each occurrence...

Barely. This battle wasn't decided by market forces at a consumer level. It was decided in back room deals between corporations. It had nothing to do with which format people were buying.

Maybe there could be another column in the game browser to indicate skill level. Players could still join advanced games, but then they'd be playing unlocked. Some would say 'cool!' and get good, or at least better, others would go back to being WASD'ers. Most of my R/L friends have played Descent a...

It really depends on your kids, too. With my oldest, we are happy if we don't get a call from the school about him, this year he has been doing well, but first and second grade were really rough, we got calls at least once a week.

Yep... Ford was right... I think it's not how much you use it, but how you use it. We don't have that here, in Pembroke, NH, USA, and I have never heard of such a thing, but if we did, I'd sit down with my boys and discuss it with them. Be open and honest about it with them and they will see ...

The idea of 'dumbing down' for newbs is not a bad idea... but I think it should be done at the server... This would encourage pros to leave the newbs to themselves, and at the same time encourage the newbs to work up through the skill levels. That is to say, the better players would not want to join...

On top of being hard to master, availability of controllers that can handle Descent are also more limited than other types of games. Yes, those are the verts that are outside the area that you can use for multiplayer... ie, under the terrain map. As you pointed out, it's ok for strictly single player, but cannot be used in any server game.

There is a tutorial on that page on Prepare For Descent that I linked to previously, about fixing errors. the hall of mirrors effect that I saw is caused by 'leaks' in the shell: nonplaner faces, duplicate verts, etc...
