You're right, it does not make much sense from a technical standpoint. What are you basing your information on? I don't know about 32 bit Vista slowing older 32 bit systems to a crawl. Keep in mind I am still using a 32 bit CPU (Athlon XP @ 2.4 GHz). Give Microsoft some credit here, they wouldn't r...

The United States occupied Japan for ten years after the end of WWII. I don't recall how long the allies had to occupy Germany, but I do recall they had a hell of a lot of trouble with bombings, shootings and kidnappings by Nazi sympathizers for years after the war ended. They were dealt with forcef...

Producing top-of-the-line computer games cost as much as most movies nowadays. The Hollywood Producers Guild of America has formed a New Media Council to address the making of things like games.

Because they are also selling upgrade versions. That's the obvious reason--I know that. However, the 32-bit only machines will probably slow to a crawl under Vista. It does not make much sense from a technical standpoint to me. From what I predict from my cracked crystal ball: I doublt if the folks...

im not seeing a technical reason that would prevent the same WDDM drivers being used for vista and 2k/XP. There are two reasons I know of: 1) to better-protect the kernel from malware, and 2) Digital Rights Management. It's just another step towards the elimination of all fair use, but that's anoth...

Microsoft would be hitting hardware developers with a double wammy here: they'd have to write new drivers for DX10 on XP along with DX10 on Vista. Microsoft has already given hardware developers a quadruple whammy, DX10 cards aside: Since Windows XP will not be going away anytime soon, vendors now ...

I have been playing BF2142 almost every day for the past two weeks. I like it a lot! It’s familiar enough to start playing right away if you already know BF2, yet different enough to keep me interested. All the new stuff really changes the tactics. The adaptive camouflage is a hoot. Thumbs up from l...

I must disagree with your line of reasoning because, in order for your proposition to be true, one must first make the assumption that intellectu...

Global warming, like the ozone scare, is yet another manufactured, phony crisis. If it exists, it was not caused by man and there is nothing man can do about it. If it does not exist, the Kyoto treaty will rob the United States blind paying for it. Even the proponents of the treaty have admitted tha...

Hey you Bush bashers, stop complaining!
Here is an op-ed piece by John Loeffler that appeared two years ago. It is even more relevant today: This week's letter from the ACLU appeared in the business mail, alarmed at the assault Attorney General John Ashcroft is waging on civil rights and hinting that if I kick some money into the pot they...
