What about this? Did the Masthead partnership fall through?

http://www.interplay.com/about/article.php?id=26

Half of me hopes Interplay sticks around to develop D4, but the other half hopes somebody with the money to see the project through will just buy the Descent IP and have done with it.

They're not that tough anyway... they can aim, but they can't fly to save their lives. More fun to play against people, I learn that way.

Restart your computer and it will work fine. I have 2 gigs as well, but occasionally some program eats it all up, or maybe it's just a memory leak in Windows or even D3.. who knows.

I don't think the test is working right. I tried taking it but it just tells me I'm PTMC...

Nah, I'm INTP, with Thinking as the strongest. No big surprises, as an engineering major / programmer.

It'll be pushed out to automatic updates in 3 waves depending on the language ... English- or German-speaking users (+23 other languages) get it at the end of April. The last wave is at the end of June.

Re:

If it has features that you need, or security advances over IE7, and you can deal with beta…go for it. If you have no need for it, why bother. I personally never install beta software, so I can’t give my opinion on it. IE7 works just fine, so I will wait for it to be issued via windows update. And ...

19, been playing since the 7 level D1 demo. I've only really started playing online recently, though.

recordmydesktop worked pretty well. It shows D3 running in a window instead of fullscreen, but fixing that is just a matter of cropping the vid. I'll try Taksi with D3 running in OpenGL, but recordmydesktop's looking like a good final choice if I can get the sound recording working. Oh, and the fram...

Thanks for the suggestions. If I had a TV tuner card, that would be great, but unfortunately I don't have any video inputs. Taksi looks pretty good for pre-1.0 software - it didn't recognize the game in DirectX mode when I played tonight, but I'll try switching D3 to the OpenGL renderer and see if t...

Descent 3 Video Capture

Greetings fellow Descenters, I'm looking for free software that can record gameplay video from Descent 3. Could anyone recommend a free Windows or Linux video capture program that handles fullscreen OpenGL / DirectX? My own research has been inconclusive - fraps isn't free, XFire doesn't support Des...

Try it in Chrome.. the pieces spin when they hit the bottom of the frame. The rotation rendering is crappy, but it's kind of funny all the same.

I'd look at the McAfee again to make sure... AV software is nothing but a headache, aside from when it's saving your computer. It may be blocking connections to/from Descent 3. Did you turn the McAfee firewall entirely off? I had similar issues with Norton AV on a previous computer. I'm running Vist...
