Registration activation emails not arriving?

Could it be that the registration activation emails are no longer delivered? There was a post about that on reddit, I haven't received a mail for a test account I created a couple of hours ago and it seems there have been no new accounts since Nov 2021.

This change does persist for me, and also works in Rebirth. I use a newer D2 Workshop version however, maybe that's the reason. You can manually copy tahoma.ttf from c:\windows\fonts to c:\windows\system32 to make it install.

There's another DOS game for Engage which does have a downloadable installer on the archive. This installer includes a vxd file egoipc.vxd, It might be the same vxd that Descent requires.

I have it working after adding this registry entry. You can add it with regedit or use the attached reg file.

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Descent3 Mercenary
String Value name: UninstallString
You can leave the value empty.

As far as I know the plan is to add a few more features and then host it at sectorgame.com

I had it crash for a similar reason as the previous time, the texture cache was full at an unfortunate time. I've created a new exe with a possible fix. It seemed to work for me, but maybe I didn't play long enough :)

There is a command-line option for windowed mode: -window
There are no options for setting the resolution or specifying an alternate config file.

It's related to the number of different textures in the level, the robots, etc. Somehow this is a number that hits an old bug in the OpenGL code (not sure why it works in 0.58.1).

I've submitted a patch for rebirth.

You are using D2X-Rebirth 0.58.1 on Windows, playing The Enemy Within level 7 and when you enter the blue door you get an error / crash?

This seems to work for me. Do you have an error message?

I'm not sure if it helps but I've converted the D2 palettes to GIMP Palette (.gpl) files. You can use those with Import palette..., Palette file.

I finally got around to create a proper distribution on github for the patches and I've fixed the kill counter location and added an option to enable/disable the indicator (Speedrun Indicator in Graphics options). The option/location fix is D1 only for now. Someday I hope to change the counter to in...

It appears somewhere in the d2x history a fix was made for >9 hours game time bugs and initialization of the Last_teleport_time / Last_gate_time / Boss_*_time variables got overlooked. They probably should be reset to 0 in ini...

Oops, I drafted the guide in Word and it 'helpfully' converted minus-signs to en-dashes. I though I had recovered them all but missed those two :( I've fixed the guide, you might have to reload the page in your browser. It should be -j3 and -fwrapv (both with regular minus sign). The -j3 is optional...

You can copy c:\windows\fonts\tahoma.ttf to c:\windows\system32 and it should accept that.

The Enemy Within doesn't seem to work with the latest Rebirth, but should work with D2X-Rebirth 0.58.1

I agree with Sirius that a remaining counter gives too much information about the level. I've split up the counter in original bots + spawned bots and made a list with robot counts per level (spoiler :) ). From your demo question I guess you got it working? The counter wasn't recorded in the demo file, also not in D2X-XL. I've added code to record the counter in the demo file. That makes the recorded demo files incompatible with other Descent versions though, hopefully that's not a problem. If it work...
