Re: Descent 1 1/2

Sort of as a challenge a while back when I figured out Zeta Aquilae's texturing formula (the real reason behind Coolyard's complete palette switch), I tried to create a texture scheme that captured the ZA spirit while not using one of the two themes the original system presented. The result was a gr...

Re: Descent 1 1/2

Also just wanted to point out that secret level tracks start from level 2 and not level 1. On a related note, the secret levels should also be kept in mind when choosing tracks for levels 2-7. I don't see something like D1L11 working in Dynamo. Maybe that faster-paced song from D2 (either level 2 or...

We also need to remember the briefing and credits. D1 briefing works quite well for the briefing, but both credits songs look like they'd fit in a level somewhere.

Re: Descent 1 1/2

On the topic of credits, I was thinking (since there are so many people involved) that rather than the newer "Here's all 60 levels/28 tracks/whatever and their individual authors", we should use a traditional "The level designers are X, Y, and Z; the musicians are A, B, and C; the wha...

Either testing BBCode or posting random crap. I've mainly done the latter, however I have done the former as well.

Took the liberty of putting gear and gears into Ceres. The updated 5-level demo It comes at the end of the original 4 levels. All 5 levels have been modified to support full 4/8 multiplayer (I did avoid structure changes, though IMO level 4 could use a post-Parallax D2 mechanic to better facilitate ...

The majority. This is just to get a rough idea of where people fall.

"Reactionary" is extreme conservatism, just like "Radical" is extreme liberalism.

It seems pretty obvious (most topics and posts lean left), but I'm curious about how many people fall where on DBB's political spectrum.

I personally hang out on the dedicated Overload forums.

I was thinking about doing Vignettes.

Don't worry, not all at once. I was thinking about doing the first 5 levels, checking the quality with the community, then doing the other 22.
Level 17's going to be fun though...

I know the Secret level was definitely an interesting mingling of D1 and D2 secret level styles. I might try its style on my next D1 endeavor.

Hint: It's on the same level as the alternate exit in Orion Nebula Project.

I've noticed (due to having several Rebirth installs for this or that) that AF only fails on some Rebirths. On my primary install it worked fine, but I copied it to my Beta install and it doesn't.

Re: Impressions on Descent: Insane, cold start, no-death, 100%

I had a realization though - the midi music in D1 contributed greatly to the identity and atmosphere of each level, and only having the 4 midi tracks in D2 is hugely detrimental. That's why I liked Calmarius' runs, where he somehow got the D1 midis to play in D2 levels. I unfortunately don't know h...
