We are probably just going to get a 32" flatscreen HD CRT. Nothing fancy. We are saving the $$ for the home theater we are going to put into the basement.

Lexar 1GB USB Thumbdrive (which will replace the aging old FDD for good now)
Several sweatshirts and assorted pants
$150 Best Buy gift card
$750 from my grandparents (which shocked the crap out of me since this was alot larger than what they usually send..)

I've got my eye on a 1000W 6.1 home theater + DVD system on sale at Best Buy that I might use that gift card for. I'm gonna give it a good look-over first though. :)

I got $95 in Wal-Mart gift-cards and $40 in cash, but better than that I bought a 2005 Honda Civic EX a couple weeks earlier (more for my birthday, as I got it on the 9th, the day before my b-day). So I'm pretty happy. I gave a lot more than I received, as long as I don't count what I received from myself, even beyond the car.

I got:

- a couple weeks of hang-out time with my in-laws and several old friends
- lots of alone time with my wife (her parents moved, but the house hasn't sold yet, so it's completely empty. Kinda eerie... but lots of good reminiscing and stuff.)
- A Tazmanian Devil necktie
- a welcome mat
- a funny little remote control hover-thingy
- a couple of CD's (Mercy Me, Third Day)
- money
- Munchkin plus the expansion packs: Unnatural Axe and Clerical Errors

I also should have a box of presents waiting for me at the office, but they haven't been open since I got back.

Every single person that bought me a present gave me clothes.

I guess no one likes how I dress.

One question: do the Guinness/hair dryer serve any purpose in the cooling process? :P

hairdryer was for heating up the glued on heatsink on the vidcard. Not pictured is the screwdriver I used to pry it off, thus gouging the card and facking up some of the traces (but that's a whole other story).

Oh, and that's Don Julio Anejo in the shotglass.

Spent the day alone.

Not because that's what I wanted.

Got absolutely NOTHING for Christmas again.

Perhaps that will change next year. (As in seeing my only child for Christmas 2005!)

DOH!

Sorry to hear that bro. If it makes you feel better, I didn't get squat outside of my immediate family and my grandparents (father's side).

Why do people spend that much on gifts? It makes no sense to me.

Possible reasons:
1) love
2) economics (is it worth $20 for a warm fuzzy feeling?)
3) nothing better to do
4) bribery
