Second try at song 12

Wow, much improved. Well done. I do have to say, there is a melody I can't quite make out at 0:48. My guess it that the frequencies are outside my hearing range (I'm going deaf and can't hear anything over 13kHz). If I were to remix this, I'd move that melody to a different register to compensate for my listening handicap.

;) Keep up the good work.

Thanks man. Yes, there is a melody there. And no, i have no idea what I was thinking. I have trouble hearing it too.

It reminds me of Portal.

I don't know what kind of sound you are going for. I can only tell you what I personally would change. So "improvement" is only an improvement to me, not you.

I guess I would a couple things. First, part of the main melody gets lost in the tremolo effect. I would either reduce the effect or move the melody to another voice (probably the later). And I think I would change the bass sound to something like a saw or square wave and drop it an octave. I like low, heavy bass.

If you want to give me the file I can play around with it. You might think it's interesting to hear a remix of your music?

Thanks man! I'll have to try that.
Do you like The Who? I'm kinda trying to do what they did here with the keyboards, with out ripping them off completely.

I really like the keyboard solo at the start and at 6:40. But the whole song is great.

Also, I'm not really doing it in a rock and roll style. I kinda went off in a video game-ish direction.

Also here's the file you requested: http://isaacg.net/posts/song121.mmpz

edit:
Bach, the keyboard god: (head bang to this)

I love The Who. That's probably my favorite track by them too. I'm on out of town on a job so I'll check out your LMMS file tomorrow when I get home.

Sure, can't wait, but no rush. All the time in the world.

I finally got a chance to play around with a little. Just a little. It's too easy to go crazy and mutilate other people's work, so I showed great restraint and only tweaked a few things. It doesn't sound a whole lot different than yours.

What kind of monitors are you listening through? I noticed your track sounds better through laptop speakers, which makes me think that's what you are using, haha.

Haha. I'm using ear buds. I'll have to download it later. I'm currently in limbo, on a live disk, installing a new OS.

It occurs to me Vision probably already knows everything I'm learning taking my Live Sound Reinforcement course...

And ya, I like The Who too... though for the longest time I only knew the awesome songs and not what the band was (it was never me who put on the CDs).
Didn't they have a song that sounded a little like D1 game 18?

Sorry, Alter. Maybe Vision knows.

Hey vision. I love it! I tired exporting it to share here, but I keep messing up. The tracking screws up: the player thinks the song is 17 seconds long but continues playing the whole song. Not sure how that happens.. Might be a problem with Amarok. But I bet I'm doing something wrong.

edit: nevermind! Got it. This is what vision posted. I like it.
