I charge flat rates. Consultation is $40. Standard labor fee is $65. If it's severe work such as storm damage, data recovery, or massive spyware cleanup, my rates can vary from the standard $65 to $150 or more, depending on how much work it was.

For a job like that, I'd ask for $80 or $140.

The St. Louis Fair & Air Show is every Labor Day weekend. On the official site of the Fair & Air Show, they announced that 2007 was the last year. It's quite sad because as the site describes, it is a very big event for the region. I looked forward to going every year, but apparently people ...

Probably the only manufacturer that uses hardware MIDI to date is Creative Technology. I have a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit and all the MIDI part needs is an sf2 soundfont bank file, as their cards have always needed; it does not sound cheesy like the frequent software synths that are present in most...

I would strongly suggest getting a WD Caviar RE (enterprise grade) hard drive. I've had nothing but trouble from Seagate in recent years. WD's stuff though is very solid. I have a 40GB IDE HDD that's well over 4 years old and is still running. Last spring I bought a WD Caviar RE 1601ABYS 160GB and I...

buying the keyboard means you will get glare from the keyboard too.
Not if the finish/polish is done opaque or matte-like enough to absorb or not directly reflect the light like the Eclipse does.

If you want a good keyboard, get a Saitek Eclipse. I own one and after a year it is still in superb condition. No worn keys, the backlight is still night and pretty, and it holds up to any abuse I throw at it.

I once RMAed an MSI board, and I was very surprised at their warranty service. The return was processed in a week or less and sent a replacement board that was a near identical model.

In my experience, MSI boards are great run for the money and they last a long time.

If Descent were abandonware, more could be done to improve it, particularly D3, which is fraught with bugs.
