It's best described as Red Hat 10, so if you liked Red Hat 9, here's the next stage. Some nice things about it: - Cool graphical loading screen, a la Mac OS X - Latest and greatest of most programs - Not as slow as Mandrake (not as fast as Slackware) - It's free and you aren't expected to pay for it...

Lamar Smith is frequently casted as an outspoken supporter of the RIAA's rogue tactics and increasing government control of the Internet, as one of the drafters of the dubious Patriot Act cybercrime clauses. Freedom-loving Texans would be wise to oust him. My opinion about the government and the Int...

I don't think I'll ever have faith in electronic voting. There have already been issues of corruption by the people operating the current electronic voting machines. The only way I could potentially accept the system is if there is a rigorous and public auditing system that verifies the votes. But, ...

Best web hosting
For a while, I've toyed with the idea of unifying my three main web sites under one host. Insomuch as I like th free hosting I already have, I know I can afford it myself and I don't want to mooch off of others unless I have to. I'm wondering if anyone has had really good (or bad) experiences with s...

I'd say something here, but BUBBALOU said it already. http://www.descentbb.net/ubb/wink.gif Seriously though, the software that came with your soundcard is usually fairly good. If you don't have such software, like I said, try Audacity. It's a decent open-source sound editing program. Another one wo...

Do you really think you are so important and crucial that you simply must have an icon 30x larger than the majority of rule-abiding users? That's why it's disrespectful. Certainly, they are of no consequence to my browsing experience since I'm on broadband. I'm just thinking about the dial-up users ...

Upgrading is less of a choice than an expectation. The grip Microsoft has on the computer manufacturers will invariably mean all new computers will be shipped with Longhorn preloaded. That's the power of a market share monopoly. However, it is also predicated on the notion that people will buy new c...

You know a racing game is too fast when you're racing along and notice that the road texture does not appear to be moving, even though everything else is. http://www.descentbb.net/ubb/tongue.gif And it's discouraging that F-Zero GX now demands rote memorization of tracks. The previous F-Zeros never ...

Who needs analytical dissection when simple logic will suffice? If Titor were from the future, the very telling us that there will be a civil war in 2004 will change what happens. If we were put on alert, we would stop it. Thus, Titor in the future would have never known about it and therefore could...

Roughnecks was pretty neat, actually. A few years ago when the Sci-Fi Channel was airing their BKN cartoon program in the morning, Roughnecks was a part of it. They showed it mostly in sequence, but never showed the final episodes. Visually, it was extremely impressive, practically on the level of t...
I was really disappointed in F-Zero GX. If anything, it showed me that, yes Virginia, it is possible to make a racing game that goes too fast. The controls felt extremely twitchy, moreso than F-Zero X, and the tracks felt like they were built for races half their speed. http://www.descentbb.net/ubb/...

I wouldn't really call it a pre-emptive strike. For years after the Gulf War, we tried to take the diplomatic route. We humored Hussein as he toyed with opening the research lab doors and closing them to UN inspectors on a whim. We chastised him when he outright violated such orders. But the diploma...
