This has everything to do with the fact that the hires textures are in an uncompressed format (TGA)...

Try throwing away the animated missile sprites and use the 3d models instead where possible. That should shorten loading times a bit.

Still crashes... i'm certain that it's something with the dynamic lights. It crashes when i shoot flares.

Ok,

with lightmaps:
dynamic lights have no visible effect
crash after 1-5 seconds ( may depend on number of dynamic lights - like when i shoot a flare and it crashes )

without lightmaps:
colored lights look funny ( like in Pumo's screenshots )

* static level lights and hires textures seem OK... i don't get any strange colors
* walls show almost no reaction to dynamic lights ( like flares, lasers and stuff ). I could only see the yellow flare flickering.
* i get a nasty crash 5 seconds after starting a new game...

1.6.11:
The base textures are lit only by dynamic lights, overlay (second) textures are lit normally.

The lights are pretty dark too - i had to use like 20 flares to actually see the base textures.

A weird texture bug i encountered after playing the first few D1 missions. I have hires textures enabled ( and they don't work).

Also there is no smoke. Even with the new command-line settings.

I also get no smoke trails...
Athlon xp + radeon 9700 pro + official drivers on WinXP
I tried messing with the various opengl settings, but couldn't make it work.
I also encountered a bug in one of the recent versions, where the ship can't move anymore - only rotate and shoot ( I'll post a savegame ...

I have no savegames for the first one...
For the second one, first load 'Glitch', then 'BBB'.

also i actually used ctrl-F1,ctrl-F2 with the first one... sorry for misleading you about the mini screens :(

Shouldn't the lasers in D1 be different? I noticed while playing d1x, that they use different models. For example in D1, laser lvl3 is blue and in d2x-d1 it's almost white.

Hi,
I got this while trying to toggle the small screens ( radar, rearview ) in d1.
First the screen went completely black for about a second and then this texture got changed.

I tried to play with 'render entire mine', but the crashes didn't go away and walls are still not transparent. Also the cameras behave strangely...

?,136,137 (i didn't check older versions) :
Playing d2x levels ( Glass House, Speed, ...?) results in random CTDs.
Also some of the walls that should be transparent aren't (like the big green ones in Glass House).
Normal D2 levels ...

Yes, I know how additive light works, but when total_darkness (0,0,0) + red laser (1,0,0) = total_darkness (0,0,0), something isn't right. Just look at the screenshots.

I'm looking at the code right now, but it will take some time to learn how it all works.

I've made a pitch black test level with no lights and did some test with lasers.

to clarify things a bit, d2x now uses multiplicative lighting for weapons.
It shouldn't be hard to make it additive, so d2x 'light' behaves more like the real word light. ( try shooting in very dark tunnels - no light at all)

I think both mouselook and non-mouselook are bugged.

Non-mouselook:
slower than keyboard
you can't aim straight
Mouselook:
there is no maximum speed for looking around which makes your ship spin like crazy when u move the mouse a bit more

Hi,

only a small glitch this time :)

After finishing the 'Phobos Encounter' mission, credit screen fades to white and the text leaves 'trails' that show non-faded credits screen.

Lightmaps

It's bugged even in D2 missions
Lightmaps are applied to individual triangles on irregular walls in the new version, not the whole wall.
