I run three routers! Two are hooked to a switch connected to the cable modem (I have two IPs), and are also hooked to each other LAN-side so I can talk to my desktop from the laptop without having to open ports. Router #3 is a 54g wireless router in the living room to connect my laptop to. This conn...

I'd believe that that's all there is to it. Sounds like he was cuffed by SWT (oh sorry, TSU  ) officers, and they probably had nothing better to do. San Marcos isn't that big of a town, gotta get your kicks in where you can. If this guy's the one that got the fences taken down and such, then w...

I think we're probably saying the same thing here. Take this example: Say you're on your local network, and happen to be able to fully-utilize the network (impossible, I know, but let's pretend). You're copying a 100MB file to your machine, and copying a 10MB file from your machine. With a half-dupl...

Except that with IE and Microsoft documents that go with applications you've got installed, it actually doesn't (that I've seen) give you the opportunity to view the document in Word/Excel/whatever instead of within the IE window. Now, of course, there may be a preference somewhere, but I'm not sure...

For crying out loud, we've been hearing about this too long. Get it off the media. Agreed. Just because a jury found him innocent of this crime doesn't mean he's not a slimeball. Any parents that would send their kids to this whacko's house overnight ain't in their right minds. Whacko: yes. Slimeba...

What legal reason did they have for detaining him? I don't think they'd necessarily need to detain him (though you'd think a quick check for anything outstanding on this heavily-armed guy trying to cross the border might be prudent), but perhaps telling him to try again without the chainsaw and swo...

I thought it was just the x86 archetecture and that they named Intel as a platform because of brand recognition and not because it will run exclusively on Intel only. I would really like to see a Mac OS running on a PC. THat is if it was good. With all of the layers it uses to operate Windows may s...

Since this was Hijacked, I figured I'd go ahead and start a new topic for what was important to ME :) But then the nazi mods can't mess with this one! Oh wait, yeah we can. Normally the method is to complain about all the hijacking, original thread's left behind, flamefest ensues, mods step i...

I've used both Acoustic Research and Monster. Haven't noticed a real difference between the two (other than price). What I get usually depends on if I'm feeling spendy and whether there's stock of the level and length of cable I'm looking for. Don't go with just any cables the store happens to have,...

Yeah, different request, is that still technically amortization? (My wife's the CPA.) I'll see if I can get a total for savings. If I'm remembering the interest formulae properly, the total should be $5000 * (1.06 ^ 12), or ~$16036 . A savings calculator at my CU gives $16551 for monthly interest at...

Well, assuming you're not talking about someone sending stuff to themselves (which defeats the purpose of BT), use of BT is pretty much just an evolution of the traditional download. Instead of pulling all of the file from the host server, you'll grab bits and pieces from anyone currently downloadin...
Trackers are a bad idea, once the ria/mpaa shuts down a tracker, they demand a list of all the ip addresses that used the tracker, and unless youre going through a proxy, you will probably get a nice little letter in the mail either from your isp or from the ria/mpaa. So stick to your adware- and t...

And here I always thought that the red marks were so you could easily distinguish it from your own pen marks on the page (unlike using, say, blue or black). I was never traumatized by seeing red marks of either persuasion on my papers, and I could always tell what the teacher was trying tell me. But...

I've pretty much just see the Bacon Cheddar one, but that's very very strange. Everytime I see it, I really wonder about the sanity of the people who envisioned it. (And yes, the King seems a bit evil.) I hate them almost as much as the stupid enzyte ads. Minor tangent, but does anyone else get the ...

If it is meaningless, why is it forbidden? I believe what she meant is that it's not like it's simply meaningless, but instead is expressly forbidden.
