Well, I'll call it. Not going to happen.

The only way Interplay titles are going anywhere is if they sell them.

Double-posting, so sue me. There's 23 robots in total, of which 7 of them have been built so far. So I'm just about a third of the way through, which is nice, because it's looking like a very long list. Then there's six bosses, which have a different concept behind them. Can't complain though, it is...

Done. I put the gun(s) on top, but hopefully you like how it turned out. The three dots in front will light up at different times, all of them being on the same eye animation.

Called it Sapper.

Online petitions are always meaningless, particularly in this case. The best news you can hope for is someone buying the Descent IP, but it's simply not in the same league as Fallout. I'd be surprised if many developers even remember it.

Wolf - any point in me doing a custom cockpit, should I get the time to put one together after the levels and robots are done? It adds a bit to the filesize, but in the days where people are downloading 200MB files on a regular basis a 640x480 bitmap is going to seem pretty microscopic.

It shouldn't be too difficult to strip robots and powerups from the level. Are you running DLE-XP through Dosbox? I don't think you should need to, unless you're running Vista and it's somehow incompatible, though that would surprise me.

They're procedural textures. Far too bright and shiny, but back in that period of time all the Descent artists were into the bling.

It'd take some time to model that in Bryce - if only the textures weren't so gaudy. I don't recognise that name. A callsign might have made things earlier - though honestly the only artist I know of who made Descent models using Bryce was Kuman, and that's not him. Midgard did some work using Bryce ...

Still haven't completed my first one, though I have all the cubes in there. I want to tweak them a bit to make it more cave-like, and then I have to finish texturing it. Levels 2 and 3 are complete, though, and level 4 is completed all the way up to the red door. Beyond that it needs texturing and I...

Sure. It's a collaborative work, so I don't even have to do all the robots - I'll just keep working on them until the list is complete. The working title of the one above, if you're interested, is Terapinner. This one is Meson, replacing the Fox Attack Bot. http://www.povterminal.net/gallery/scan/me...

Plasma cannons aren't feasible in anything like the form exhibited by Descent 3 either, and lasers simply don't work like that in real life.

It's a game. You have to leave reality behind at some point, and the fact is the Napalm is a fun weapon.

Seen AT1 before. It's quite an impressive undertaking, but unfortunately it still looks really bad compared to today's games. Hopefully with Mektek behind it that might improve, but they've got some pretty rubbish texture artists as well so I'm not holding my breath.

With massive franchises like Unreal selling poorly even when they're very good games, I don't think there's much chance of Descent making a comeback on the PC.
