Which missions are unplayable in DosBOX simply due to how the robots are modeled? I have played a few TEW levels in Dos and didn't notice weird things like you suggest.
What non XL missions should not be played in Dos due to robots not properly functioning?

Best old author/team
As opposed to selecting individual missions, who do you think made the best classic single player campaigns in the 1990s? Again they need to have had at least a vast majority of their work be pre-2000. You can pick two if you want and commentary is welcome! (I don't know which forum this topic is be...

Re: Best old Descent author/team
Luke Schneider for technical innovation (first custom polymodels in a major mission due to Polytron); Kruel for artistry and storytelling in level design (especially Konflict at Karon). While some of that was refined significantly by later authors, pioneering work counts for a lot in my book. :) In...

Re: Best old Descent author/team
Both very good reasons. I remember Kyoruru getting a lot of praise for gameplay though. Also I think he made the absolute first new robots - Phobos Encounter predates Entropy 2.

Re: Plutonian Shores - Vertigo Single-Player development thread
Maybe it was an issue introduced post-0.58? The second room of Level 26 is also a good try.
In both cases, I'm 75-90% white in Rebirth but 100% white totally blinded in DosBOX (on Hotshot).

Re: Plutonian Shores - Vertigo Single-Player development thread
Can you (or someone else) try in Rebirth TEW Level 16 on Hotshot & tell me if the Kalki flash missile (second room) only partially blinds them? It definitely blinds completely in Dos.
I'm using Rebirth v0.59.1 dated 12/11/2016.

Re: Enemy flash missile discrepancy between Dos/Rebirth?
Oops that was a typo! I meant Naphtha there. Fixed, sorry about that. Also Descent 1.5 for you though. You have like fifteen levels for it already available on the DMDB, that's a substantial body of work. And, it's something that can actually be downloaded already (not to say I'm not looking forward...

Enemy flash missile discrepancy between Dos/Rebirth?
I don't want LightWolf's (EDIT: I had meant to say Naphtha's !) Plutonian Shores thread to devolve into a lot of discussion on this topic, so I'm also going to post it in a separate thread. Anyways, I suspect that in D2X-Rebirth, enemy flash missiles do not blind the player as much as they do in Dos...

Re: Plutonian Shores - Vertigo Single-Player development thread
@Alter-Fox I see the files. The sng is weirdly structured in that it doesn't start at game01. However, in terms of ham files, there's both descent2.ham and plutdemo.ham! Which one should I use? I can't have two files both named descent2.ham in my folder at once. @Xfing As for the Rebirth discrepancy...

Right away, Dos doesn't recognize the music change (to D1 musics). I don't know what else it could be missing.

How can I test for Dos? How do I separate the ham from the hog if necessary?
Also @LightWolf I increased the options in my old missions poll (in this subforum) as you had requested.

Re: Plutonian Shores - Vertigo Single-Player development thread
How can I do a quick test for HAM/HXM recognition? What can I try if it doesn't recognize it (as for example I can get Lost Levels to recognize with a modified descent2.ham)? Also is this XL compatible?

Re: Plutonian Shores - Vertigo Single-Player development thread
Still interested on Xfing. Also will Dos run it? It's still my favorite way to play non XL missions. Rebirth isn't a picture perfect emulation of Dos Descent (II). Rebirth eases back the difficulty a bit too much - higher frequency of enemies dropping power ups and flash missiles don't totally blind...

Re: Opinions about the Entropy Experiment
Level 4 of EE1 isn't entirely symmetric either. In EE2, Level 4 also isn't symmetric. One interesting trivia about the EE series is, while Level 3 of both are very red, they have no fire. In fact I'm not even sure you see fire a single time in the entire EE series after the very first room in Level ...

Which old classics do you enjoy? (Single-player campaigns)
It looks like this might be a more appropriate forum than the single player one, so I'm moving the topic here (and modifying the subject a bit). Old classic = I'm basically defining this as any campaign released before The Lost Levels (but excluding Bahagad Outbreak since it's by the same author). B...

D2X-XL -A few issues
I had originally posted this in a different forum, but I'm moving it here because this section seems to be more active and is probably a more appropriate section anyways. I just installed the latest D2X-XL and have a few issues with it. None are game-breaking, but I'd like to know if anyone is aware...

Oldies = I'm basically defining this as any campaign released before The Lost Levels (but excluding Bahagad Outbreak since it's by the same author). But I (hopefully) covered all the really well-known ones in the poll options. Which are your favorites, the ones you feel still hold up best? You can p...

I just installed the latest D2X-XL and have a few issues with it. None are game-breaking, but I'd like to know if anyone is aware how to correct any of these. If this should go in a different sub-forum, please let me know. 1) Whenever I kill an enemy, the points I earned flashes right in the middle ...

Thanks for the recommendation. It looks like a good set from a peak. I've also got D2 set up figuring I can for the most part just ignore elements I don't like. So I'd like to add to this thread what are some D2 levels or more recent missions you'd recommend? By more recent I mean released after The...

Re: Is Vertigo superior to Counterstrike?
I only think the primaries unique to D2 (including the Level 5/6 laser) are OP. Not D1 primaries. The D2 weapons should generally be rewards for finding secrets, IMO not out in the open.

Re: Is Vertigo superior to Counterstrike?
I think Vertigo is better, though I think D2's new primaries are overpowered and I don't like the Thief. Vertigo doesn't fix either of those, unfortunately.

I prefer D1 to D2 and just got Ingo it again a little while ago. I have either already played or already know of the following missions: Vignettes Lost Levels D1 Vertigo Dementia Orion Nebula Project Ironstar/blade What are some other D1 single player levels and/or missions you'd recommend? I'm look...
