New GF - this one's a keeper!
I first met Emma in 1993 at my little sister's 21st birthday party. She was Robyn's room-mate at the time. We argued all night long - and then - um - didn't argue for the morning. Anyway, I was very keen at the time, but I was living 500km away in Queenstown, and she was shaping up to move to the USA...so that was that. Or so I thought...
Anyway, and this story might sound eerily familiar to those of you who followed my relationship last year... Emma was Robyn's bridesmaid at her Jan 30th Wedding.
When I saw her again I was like "WHOA! No wonder I had the hots for her back then!" Now, I was under VERY strict instructions for the wedding: I wasn't to do or say ANYTHING that would cause embarrassment or scandal. I don't know where my folks got the idea that I would do such a thing!
Well, Emma was there with her partner (They live[d] in Auckland) and I was very careful to stay well away from her and when I had to read the Telegrams (emails) and make a speech, I was the perfect brother, and said only good stuff...
A little later, I sneaked outside for a cigarette - and who should follow me? Yeah. Anyway, we got to chatting, and it turned out she had already split with Paul, like a week beforehand! She then (repeatedly!) asked me to kiss her - and I just had to say "Not Under ANY circumstances can I do that!" And related my story about vowing to behave myself. Needless to say, that was pretty friking hard to do, as she was looking damn gorgeous (See photo above!)
Well, we chatted for what must have been too long, because her partner came out a bit later and retrieved her - amicably I might add.
She had my business card - and for some reason, she e-mailled me and we started chatting on MSN. Auckland is like 2000 km away and I just figured she needed someone to talk to while her relationship fell apart.
Turns out she accepted a 9 month contract only 380km from my city. At $90 an hour. Plus accommodation. Plus Power. Plus phone + Internet. Plus airfares anywhere in NZ every weekend! (WOOT!)
Well, she visited me after she went to Dunedin for the "interview" (When can you start? LOL) and stayed the weekend. That went Extraordinarily well - so the following week she moved to Dunedin, and that weekend (Last weekend) she joined me in Queenstown while I competed in the 9th annual Queenstown Classic Disc Golf tourney (Don't ask - I have won the Open Trophy before, but fell apart this time!). That weekend went very well too. Exceedingly so.
This evening she flew back to Auckland to pack all her stuff, and go to another wedding, and stopped by Christchurch (Home) for 3 hours - and I took her to a Merino Wool clothing label launch of a good friend of mine (http://www.alexanders.co.nz) - nice stuff - I brought a beautiful wool top. AWESOME.
Anyway - it's all looking very rosy indeed. She's moved into a very nice apartment in Dunedin, and we'll fly on alternate weekends. So - wish me luck - because I've been spectacularly unlucky in love in the past (and stupid too I have to add!) - so I am REALLY hoping not to screw this up! She's a keeper - 30 (9 years younger than me ) and very smart (hell - probably smarter than me!) and best of all - she thinks I'm friking great!
Anyway - I'm in a LOT of trouble! Why? Well, because I seriously like this woman. She seems pretty much what I've been looking for for a very long time indeed! The fact she thinks I'm hot just makes me like her even more!
I think Mae West was right when she said "A man is always more interested in a woman who is interested in him, than a woman with great legs."
Oh, she has great legs too.

Yeah - I've got her well trained: when I start talking about D3 or technical stuff - she just smiles and nods.
An "STFU Mobius" would be awesome. Might get one printed for her!
Dear God no - if anyone asks about the DBB - I always say - "Yeah, that's Diligent BoardBooks - the product I've been working on for a year." DBB
