Super VF-1S and Jetfire alike?

I notice that Jetfire from Transformers look similar to the Super Veritech Valkyrie(VF-1S) from Robotech: The Macross Saga(or just plain ol' Macross in Japan).

I wonder if Harmony Gold sued the creators of Transformers(Marvel Comics or Sunbrow Productions or Hasbro) for using the image of the VF-1S Valkyrie for JetFire or did they got permission from Harmony Gold?

And yes, I know what the \"unseen\" Phoenix Hawk look like in Battletech before it got removed, due to copyright issues.

In the American toy line, Jetfire was a licensed Bandai VF-1S Super Valkyrie Fighter
