Rock on! \\m/
This might end the tyranny of Mech Assault(which is crap) and thus save the Battletech electronic franchise. And hopefully a Mechwarrior 5.

Good news. Nice to see M$'s iron grip relaxed for a change. And here's hoping for another chapter in Mechwarrior, I haven't had my fix in years.

You do NOT wish for Micro$oft to buy up anything. Its a guarantee death sentence. Didn't you know that? ;)

Actually Tiger, all MS did for Mech was provide a little money, the publishing and about 5 layers bureaucracy.

Microsoft bought Halo before it was released, to use as their flagship Xbawks product.

I was excited about Halo, and following it's development until Microsoft bought it, then i stopped caring. IIRC Halo was supposed to be a Massively Multiplayer Online FPS game originally in it's PC version.

when it comes to games, i think they outsource (the conglomerate way - buy out!). Coz Microsoft's games work well outof the box - If Microsoft was doing them in-house i doubt they'd work so well.

NO WAI

RLY?

why would they do that? Halo is STILL their flagship product, and MS throws money at everything, can't spare some for Bungi?

Yes, but the difference is that its better dead in someone else's hands. M$ has all the $$$ in the world and they SAT on the Mechwarrior license and did nothing while killing off FASA.
Can you tell how much I hate Micro$uck???

Halo was a Mac game, not a PC product before MS bought Bungie. Originally it was an RTS, but by the time it was publicly unveilled at MacWorld '99, it had become a third-person shooter.

FASA Studio was actually releasing titles, but they weren't doing terribly well towards the end and shut down. A bit like Outrage, except more of a surprise.

...I think I smell a trend in the making here.

Is anyone aware of any other reasonably substantial attempts to rebuild / relaunch / revivie old gaming franchises? (D4 rumors aside)

Is this a trend? Is Gen X getting nostalgic perhaps?

Not counting Descent 4 simply because Interplay will NOT make it, DX3 is being made because its series was popular. Mechwarrior has a huge backing. Other than those two I dont really see a trend.
