Exponents

Post by Isaac »

I love this thing:

The keys are almost as big as my laptop keys, so you can imagine how fast I can type on it. In fact, I avoid my TI calculators, which I still lug around because I hate "dialing" slowly for the answers. They're terrible! WHY DO THEY THINK YOU WANT TO TYPE ON AN ADVIL!!?!? I only go back to them when I have lots of exponents or square roots in an equation.

I can't find a regular big calculator with exponents and square root. Actually, square root is common, but I hardly ever need it. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks.

Maybe those of us who have to do math beyond a 5th-grade level know that the smaller buttons mean far more features? :P

This is what I would use.

Of course, you'd need to have a iPad in order to use it.

Oh yeah. I mean if you hold it with both hands and type on in it like a GameBoy, using your thumbs, I bet you could.

TopGun. Most math I do is pretty much at the Fifth Grade level. So speed and accuracy is more important than lots of functions. However, when dealing with exponents, using the M+ M- buttons (which I use the heck out of), it can be easy to make mistakes. Like I'll have to multiply 1.0243 times itself 48 times. If I accidently do it 47 times I have the wrong answer. So I type RM * 1 * RM * RM * RM * RM .... until I'm at the 48th.

Anyway, never mind you all. Thanks anyway.

See if your school offers Maple.

Maple is like the best calculator you could ever imagine, plus about a hundred more features.

You need a computer to use it, but it'll basically do all of your leg work for you.
