Do you even understand what the billboard is trying to say?

Here's Afiya's verbal explanation.
The Afiya Center has ALWAYS supported women having access to the FULL SPECTRUM OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES. Period. This billboard is just a physical representation of language we’ve been using this whole time. We believe the ONLY people who can make decisions about women’s bodies are the women themselves. We are for complete autonomy. COMPLETE AUTONOMY. 100%, with no caveats.

If the word abortion feels like a dog whistle, sit back and ask yourself who programmed you to react that way.

Have a blessed day

"ABORTION IS SELF-CARE." seems to be the largest type on the billboard. Why would they emphasize abortion by, oh I dunno...maybe making it the centerpiece of the advertisement?

Afiya's facebook response to the criticism of the blackboard's message.
“Do y’all realize the only women who seem to be very against black women accessing the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare services are........black women? Who taught y’all that the only way to live was your way? Who taught y’all that the only way to engage with other women was to tear them down? When you engage with another woman is this how you act?

The Afiya Center wants all black women to have full access to the healthcare that they need (which is revolutionary in and of itself, considering that black folks don’t generally have consistent healthcare), without any caveats."

Why do you keep engaging that troglodyte as if he has the capacity of seeing reason, TC?

It's clear by now nothing we say is going to even make a dent. 'Thank you for your service' is a much better response to use.

There are plenty of clinics that address the "let ANYONE access full spectrum healthcare" issue without necessarily promoting abortion- the killing of unwanted children.

For the last time, it's not "promoting abortion". All they're saying that abortion is a part of any black woman's "personal choice" when obtaining full spectrum reproductive health care. Nothing says that black women will go and get abortions right and left instead of say, obtaining birth control. If anything, black women tend to tell each other to shy away from abortion anyway, despite the message. You're so anti-abortion, I'm beginning to wonder if you're a Christian NS.

And Ferno, yeah, I know. :deadhorse:
