Well, a little bit of research makes me believe that they are not armed guards to protect a tree. "Armed police will be patrolling the streets of Derby this Christmas to protect the public from a terrorist attack." I saw some argument on the internet about how lowering taxes on the wealthy was fair because they actually handle the majority of the tax burden. My main thought there was that while the top 1% handle 40% of the tax burden they also have an almost exclusive hold on political influence and control over the government. So really, if they have near 100% control of the government, then they should also be required to pay for near 100% of the tax burden, its only fair.

As a California resident, this is hogwash. Also, there are a LOT of Republicans holding office here and the "liberals" aren't all that liberal except for a few pockets in the state.
