Yikes, that can't be good for your back!

Have you looked at the people who typically sell backpacks? Samsonite, Targus, that sort of thing?

well being in CAP has made my back pretty strong for carrying heavy items. because we train with 40LBS on our backs usualy.

PC motherboards are *not* designed to be lugged around like laptops. Going up a flight of stairs with one on your back would easily break the heatsink mounts on CPU sockets - god forbid your are using an aftermarket HSU.

Not mention balance issues - there is a large difference between 40 lbs properly distrubted in a backpack compared to just having a 40 lbs load hanging off your shoulders - namely with a proper backpack, the load is carried by your legs.

any PC case that is a larger class of case than an Mac Mini would seriously injure your back if you carried it improperly on your back.

the proper, safe way to move a pc case is with the motherboard paraell to the floor, and with a backpack that is not going to happen.

On your back? Goodness, do you know how unhealthy that would be?

It wouldn't really be unhealthy. Why not just get a hiking pack and modify it?

I built a computer in an electricians case for Lan parties. Worked great.

This was also prior to 9/11. Doubt airports would let it through now-a-days.

Could you enlighten us as to what you would like to use this for. Because if you plan to take this through an airport, a suitcase with cloths packed around it might be your best bet. A backpack sufficiant in size to hold a case like yours probably would be too big to pass as carry-on luggage. Before the eletricians case, if I ever flew with my computer, I dis-assembled the whole thing, packed each individual component in a small duffle bag, and took that on the plane with me. The case I packed in a suitecase and claimed it as luggage.

Just FYI.

the reason is for future LAN's. like the possible upcoming ChiLAN 06.

i also carry my computer to friends houses and am searching for a much easier method of transporting it.

You could just find an empty box about the same size as your tower, go to a place that sells backpacks and see if it will fit.
