Thanks Ace - that's my home town in the picture, taken from STS118 - the first launch after Columbia I believe.

You can see me tuning my upload speed to get the torrent really humping along. My upload is pretty lame: only 256Kb/s (w/ 8Mb/s down: handshake is 7.95Mb/s!) so with over 200 TCP streams, the ACK packets are swamping the connection!

Getting down to 24KB/s up lets the downloads use the other 40KB/s for ACKs.

Yeah, I'm back I guess; pretty busy getting the building of our house underway and spending far too much money on the old 928. Do your tyres last longer than 3000 miles? Mine don't! Mind you, that included 6 track days as well.

Will, if you're out there, check out the Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalin. Great tyre!

I'll be lurking around here for a bit. Posting crap. Got to keep up the rate.... my long absence has resulted in my dropping to only just over 3% of the total DBB with only 3.something posts a day. Hehe.

Take it easy you lot.

I'm not allowed to do torrents. They are evil.

Na, its just not that impressive to be able to sustain 1 GBit connections anymore. I want that 10 GBit nic card now!

http://www.netxen.com/products/boardsol ... 0GXxR.html

Its really not going to help though. Even affordable fiber channel SANs or RAIDs are only going to be able to sustain about 3 GBit. So if you can't get your data in or out of the long term storage at a rate equal or faster than your network connection what good is it going to do anyway.
