The sun burns at a temp of approximately 9940.73 degrees Fahrenheit. Far from the several million degrees the earths interior.

Funny thing is the earth core temp is approximately 5432 to 9032 degrees Fahrenheit.

IF you do the math. Where the temp raises 1 degree Fahrenheit for every 60 feet the temp will be around 180,032 degrees Fahrenheit so indeed the earth core maybe hotter than the sun.

Like most science the is no actual way to measure the temp of the earth core's. His statements of late has really been way out there.

check the physical characteristics (surface and core temperatures). the use of K instead of F should be preferred too.
compare this to the surface and core temperatures (estimates?) of the earth. comparing different characteristics of two entities is pop science. i even suspect that the temperature increase with depth is not linear. i wonder if anyone has done a simulation of this already (a quick search turns up a few hits).

given your estimate of 180kF is true, then heliothermal energy is still 100 times better than geothermal energy, provided you can drill a hole into the sun to get ahold of it :D

Temperature and Heat are 2 different animals.

The estimated core temp of earth is between 3000 and 5000 C. The surface of the sun is about 5500 C; the sun's Core is about 15 million C.

fail. (Mr. Gore that is)

in Fahrenheit:

Earth core = (apprx) 5436 F to 9032 F
Sun surface = 9932 F
Sun Core = (apprx) 27,000,032 F

Sorry, my bad I see I should have said the Sun Surface temp is at appropriately Fahrenheit: 9940.7 Celsius: 5504.8 Kelvin: 5777.8

I see how you would find that funny though.

Still the snake oil salesman is wrong in stating

Never a truer statement was uttered here.

He's probably getting mixed up with temperature and pressure.
It'd be a serious problem if he were a scientist who should know better, but that's not the case.

It's necroposting, but...Al Gore never stated what *kind* of degrees he meant. Al Gore is very smart - he invented the internet after all. He uses his own system of degrees, and under that system, the Earth's core is several million degrees.

No, he's just delusional.
