Other old-school single player FPS thread (Not just a poll!)

The poll at the top is just part of the topic here. I had to combined two similar titles in some cases to not exceed ten options. If at least one applies, the option can be chosen. (I did not want to combined Quake I/II because they are totally different, and I didn't want to combine every Serious Sam game because reception between the two pairs I listed is quite different.)

For the 'other' category, as a rule of thumb, Unreal and Half-Life in my book are NOT old-school. Nor is anything else that is a 'clone' of those or more advanced.

I've played every game on the list, and like almost all of them too, but DooM and Serious Sam would probably stand out as the top two currently holding my interest.

But you can also post any other content - including videos - you'd like to share. I've lately been playing (my channel is kakhome1) Serious Sam and The Adventures of Square (the later is a FREE shooter using the DooM engine).

(There's also videos of the first two levels, just don't want to highlight four videos in one post.)

What are your criteria then? All three of the Serious Sam games are newer than both of those examples; if the cutoff is 1997 or earlier they shouldn't be in the list either.

I'd think Unreal Gold is about as old school FPS as it gets, since it originally shipped in 1998.

These days? Lots of Magic: The Gathering and no FPS.

But every once in a while my brother and I will play Nexuiz classic over the net.We live in different states, so it's a fun way for us to play against each other or troll a group of strangers.

They're basically plain shooters: Not story oriented, lot o' enemies to shoot easily...
