How 'bad' is a 1080p 27" monitor?

So I've heard from many people on many places that for Full HD/1080p, 24" is the maximum size recommended for a desktop PC monitor, as everything higher would make pixels way too noticeable, taking in account you sit pretty close to a computer monitor, unlike a TV.

But how true is that?
Some opinions I saw are from extreme heavy gaming enthusiasts that thinks that anything below 27" 4K 144Hz is totally unacceptable.
Other opinions from some a bit less enthusiast guys has suggested that for a 27" monitor 1440p is the bare minimum.

So what about a 27" curved 1080p 60hz monitor? It's as bad as they say?
Asking this as I found a not-so-bad deal of this kind of monitor at my local computer store, and thought it would be a nice option to upgrade my current 24" 1080p monitor, but I feel a bit undecided and thinking if it really worths it.

27" sweet spot is 1440p. The general consensus online is 27" 4k is too dense to be useful (also general consensus is that 4k is a stupid waste of time period) and 27" 1080p is too big. My dad has a 27" 1080p monitor and it definitely looks more pixelated than my 24", but it is good for his 72 year old eyes.

But how good or bad a particular screen is depends mostly on how good your vision is in various ways. If you are the high motion type then a 144+ Hz monitor is definitely the better option (I have a 240 Hz monitor myself because I am very sensitive to motion), if you are the high detail type and generally don't do twitch stuff then a 32" 4k screen is probably going to do more for you. And finally 27"/1440p/144 Hz is a good middle ground that works for almost everyone.

Thanks a lot Krom!
As I always considered your opinion as a very good reference due to your experience, this really helps me to decide, so I think I will wait a bit and see if I can find a nice 27" 1440p monitor.
It would be definitely for the best. :)

I've got a 2560X1440 Asus and I love it. My GTX 2070 doesn't even break a sweat running games on it. I did set it a constant 120 hz refresh rate however because the Turbo mode OSD that the display used was rendered inop by a Microsoft desktop manager update a couple of months back. Of course, that was on Win 7. I should see if it works in Win 10, but I'm not holding my breath.
