32 Player Anarchy on Friday?

I think we should all get together and pack as many people as possible into one Anarchy game! Why not get together in the same game? Can you imangine how much fun it would be? I've played in a 20 person game with little lag. This can be done.

Quadsomniac, would be an excellent map choice.

Thoughts?

Build a new level with 3 cubes, pack 32 players in it and that's what you want? Boring.

Polaris

for 32 person anarchy, you'll need a level with an outside. a LARGE outside. Try fury level 6. That should be INSANE(ly fun).

I personally do not find bi3 boring. The level is fast paced and in my opinion very well designed for game play.

BI3 can fit 3-4 people before it's overcrowded. It's a somewhat interesting level; good design and all, but it could seriously use some new architecture! It doesn't even presume to attempt to try and take advantage of the fusion engine.

Stryker, I agree. Kinda like Skybox, it's a great playing level but an overhaul is needed.

Man, remember those 30 player CTF games in Polaris back in the beginning? Or the 16 player taurus games?

man, those were good times.

Here's a revamp of Burning Indika. No corners or doors.

So, when then ..? EST or PST ..?

I disagree with you on two points, Stryker. I don't think you really need an outside level for so many people, just a good sized level. And concerning BI3, there's something to be said for a little crowding. ;)

My first thought was that Apparition - No Terrain would be a great setting for that kind of game, but when I think about it, that large mirror in the floor of the lower room might be a problem for some, with so many players in there.

Well that's easily solved by turning off mirrored surfaces.

32-man anarchy in BI3 would be... don't even make me think about that. Fusion bug galore; one fusion shot could *EASILY* take out 5-10 players. Ouch.

On the other hand, yeah thorne, you're right, it doesn't need to be outside, but it'd need to be a danged HUGE inside area though. See Swamp Kings for size reference.

Outside is for n00bs, Outside is NOT Descent, if u want outside play AceCombat 4.... 32 player Bi3 would be awesome :)

*****Warning!!! 32 player Bi3 not recommended for n00bs!!!*****

Actually, 32-man BI3 WOULD be good for n00bs. Anyone can duct-tape their trigger and secondary fire button an get a kill the instant they spawn. :P

I am making it my goal to get 31 kills in a row with a single fusion shot!

ive only played polaris with 16 peeps... ive played d3 for like 6 years or 7 years or something but i only got on the internet like 2 and 1/2 years ago... i missed the "good old days" :P...

fury level 6 might be a good level... is it the level where it has symmetrical sides... no underground paths, just a giant level, and a glitch where if ur in one room, you can hear things in the identical room on the other side of the level?

Sorry to say, there have never been any 32-player games in d3 ever. The server always requires one spot. So, the max is 31 players in one game. ;)

In the day when I ran my servers, the max I got was around 24 (still good) even when the server max was set to allow 31.

You must have a perfect, high bandwidth connection to play a large game without lag. That's why I couldn't get more than 24. The small-piped players would leave because it wasn't any fun.

And, the server MUST have at least a 1.6 megabit upload or else forget about it. That's more than a T1, FYI.

Good luck... I'll be there if I can.

Or you could just make a mod that lets everyone carry 43542736 rounds of rapid fire MD...and have them play it in Apparition...but make a way so that no one can fly inside, only outside....that would be about as fun as AIDS.

Its just that wide open outside combat just doesnt seem like Descent to me....

That may be true, but you still can't be in a 31 person game of bi3 without running into someone every 3 ship lengths. And I mean that in the literal sense.

Ok, now who will host the game? We need someone with a fat pipe :D

Would that be Enterprise, by any chance? :)

Count me in tonight if you can get a good server. Can't say I've ever played with more than 14 people in a server, so this should be great. :D

Quadsomniac
5 second respawn
200 Kill Limit
Will SOD be sufficient?

Spread the word. We want as many people as possible.

Is Quadsomniac avalible @ Planet Descent? I am not sure i have that on my machine and will need to get it. I have never done that manually, I haven't added a level since PXO.

No wonder I couldn't find it on any of the mission archives. I was trying to answer phlegm's question, and I had the same problem myself. :P

SOD will most certainly NOT be sufficient. I get lag on there with about 8 people... No telling what 31'd do to it!

I'm in Monterey, Ca. So you can make a sever for me and my friends then :)

Yes, Enterprise at 7 and Joan of Arcadia at 8.

SOD used ot be good, even though I'm about 5 minutes from the server, it's not good anymore.

If we need to make 2 games of 16 people, I'm still all for that.
