Just wonder what forth coming games you are interested in. Mine is "Oblivion" by Elder Scrolls. Sounds like some intriguing game play style.

Descent 4?

Really, I don't have any particular games I'm looking forward to. I would like to play God of War, but technically that's no longer a forthcoming game. :)

screwing the 23 year old working at the super america 2 blocks away from me. interestingly enough, the game took 2 years of development... the whole time i thought she was only into brothers. as it turns out she was whacking it to my poor, dumb ass the whole time.

i love spring.

The next WoW content patch.

And Obvilion as long as it's not an xbox 2 exclusive or anything silly like that.

Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2, but since both of those are AT LEAST nine months away, I'll have to settle for Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. Apparently, the original and the sequel have been out in Japan for a while, so they'll be releasing the first one here in a week or so, and the 2nd one is slated for launch in August.
As far as PSP is concerned, I am looking foreward to ANY story-based game (Legend of Heroes: The Gagharv Trilogy sounds like the first to come out, but there's no release date set yet (first and second of that trilogy are already out in Japan.))

Guild Wars, and hoping like hell they're going to sell it for a price that at least passes for reasonable over here. US$80 is NOT.

nothing really here. Both doom and HL2 landed with a "meh" IMO and nothing else is really that interesting to me. World War II On-Line is coming out with an expansion pack: North Africa along with another release of an updated version with some other stuff.

It's a great game and quite original in its execution.

The closest upcoming game I might be interested in is Fable for PC.

X2.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks good too.

GTA:SA for PC should be fun too.

Most games are a meh also though. I would rather buy a vehicle based game anyday. Not many exist anymore though.

by Top Wop
Oblivion
Stalker
GTA:SA
BF2

Should be a better year for games that come with more fun than it was last year: 2 "meh" games hyped like there's no tomorrow and a game that was decent but did not excel positively in many points (Doom, HL, and Thief3 respectively).

This year should be a better excuse to upgrade my system. :)

How can you be getting Splinter Cell 3 tonight Defender? It comes out on the 31st. :D

I was going to get the special limited edition but I didn't even know about it until last weekend and then it was too late to order. :\ I do not usually pay that much attention to games anymore and my friends usually tell me these things. Heh, problem is that they usually tell me until it is a few days to late :\

Tetrad, my beef with WOW is it's blocky looking. There are no smooth round edges. All are angular in nature. Not saying the game is not awesome but graphically, it pails to HL2 or even Doom3.

Merlin, I'm afraid that games like WOW and NWN (I know.. there's a considerable diff) are going to be kinda "low res" for a while. Most systems can't handle having more than 5 models rendered at one time.... ok.. a few more.... without a considerable slow-down.

Blizzard is really good at making simple graphics look very nice.

You try rendering these scenes in Doom3 or HL2:

Stylistically, it beats out both, I think. HL2 looks great, though. Of course I'll give you that.

But whatever, no point in arguing. WoW is awesome, end of story. :P

Maybe that's the PC version. It came out today (29th) for Xbox.
Played it all night, fun stuff.

Tetrad, I'm not syaing WOW looks bad, but to me, HL2 and Doom3 look way better. And if you haven't played HL2 yet, please do before saying "try rendering this".

I don't see the point of beautiful rendering if it's going to have big text markers over everybody's heads...

WoW looks almost identical to NWN to my eye... I do imagine the graphics have improved somewhat, but it's hard to tell the difference.

Not that, of course, that's the point of the game. Or that you can expect to make characters look like they came out of HL2 or even UT2k4, with that many on the screen...

In the end MMORPGs exist for the gameplay. But I'm still looking forward more to GW as I only have to pay for it once... :)

CDN_Merlin wrote:And if you haven't played HL2 yet, please do before saying "try rendering this".
1) I have played HL2. Bought and beaten within a week of it coming out. Stop making assumptions. For that matter you can't exactly say that HL2 looks better without actually having played WoW and seen it in action.
2) It's a completely seperate genre. With very different requirements and needs. I mean it's about as silly as saying "HL2 looks better than Age of Mythology". Why you're trying to argue that I don't know.
3) My screenshots don't have the details turned all the way up. Namely the "bloom" effect, which I don't care for (but is also a big part of why people think Guild Wars looks as good as it does), and the terrain texture detail.
Lothar wrote:I don't see the point of beautiful rendering if it's going to have big text markers over everybody's heads...
Because it's useful? If you're such a stickler you can run around without the name plates and not have any idea who else is in the world with you the majority of the time if you feel like it but that sort of defeats the purpose of a MMO.

Geez you guys sure like to argue about games. It is what it is.

Tet, take a shot with Bloom and post it. I'd like to see the difference.
