Voice Com software for Mac

Post by Fusion »

Greetings Mac Players of any game(besides D3)!

There is a Mac ver of Ventrilo and a Mac compatable app that interfaces w/TS. Here is what I have determined, so far:

Ventrilo:

Ventrilo's app is a prototype, not a true beta at this time. My ability to test it is hampered by a minor detail of codecs. Ventrilo Mac requires the Speex codec to transmit and hear sound, but because the only Vent server I have access to uses a diferent type of codec, futher testing is impossible unless the server ops switch to this codec. OS reqirements are either OS 10.3.9 or 10.4 www.ventrilo.com http://www.savvy.nl/blog/

TeamSpeak:

TS has not made a official Mac version of their software yet at this time, however, there is Teamspeex. It doesn't have all of the options that Windows TS contains at this time, but using Push to Talk, you can transmit to and hear Windows users. OS 10.3.9 min www.goteamspeak.com http://www.savvy.nl/blog/

TeamSpeex is also limited by codec also to just Speex like Ventrilo.
Ventrilo also has Push to Talk functionality. In total, I think Ventrilo is far-more superior.
