Really just testing the poll feature. I know alot of folks are voting against a candidate rather than in favor of one but to keep it simple I worded it positively. Poll runs for one week.

Oops, forgot about Nader. Write him in your post if that's your preference as I can't add any additional options to the poll once submitted.

Actually, I doubt either one serves their full term so I guess *Early Assassination For Whoever Wins* could have been an option too. But then again, Cheney is pretty good life insurance for Bush.

I vote we give them all 4 years off...sort of a cooling off period.

Insomuch as I don't like Bush, I failed to see what's so great about Kerry and why states so far have chosen the guy almost unanimously.

Then it dawned on me.

He looks like a President.

White guy. (check)
Gray hair. (check)
No facial hair. (check)
Mottled face that has seen it all. (check)

That HAS to be the reason! :D

Really, in all seriousness, I have no idea what they see in the guy. He comes across as just being the democratic version of Bush and I suspect he flies solely on the "I hate Bush and I'll take anyone else" ticket.

TheCops,
That interview is as boring and lacking substance as John Kerry himself...was that the point or am I missing something?

I hope he saved the good stuff for the book or else he'll sell only one copy..to his mother!

Sorry Gooberman, when I first saw your post I thought "Spin" was a link to some band I'd never heard of. I thought you were offering Bash some sounds to calm him with so I didn't click on it.

Now I have and I'd have to say it's pretty funny. And as you so aptly titled your link that site is chock full of spin too.

Interesting results so far. Far from a significantly significant sample but kinda neat none the less. Looks like non-americans are more fed up with Bush that americans are.

Unfortunately that is exactly what most people in this country consider when they choose a president. But I dont feel sorry because you get whats comming to you when you elect a con-artist, and that is what most of the House of Reps and Senate is made up of.

As far as this party system and election process is concerned, this is NOT what George Washington had invisioned. If he was alive today and saw the direction this country has been heading to in the last few years, he'd be shouting "WTF" so loud that his wooden teeth would splinter.

Shame on all of you for the "whitey" label you're putting on the 2nd JFK. Don't you know that there are some that think of Kerry as being the 2nd "black" president? Also some think of Kerry as the 2nd coming.

Alas, come november he will also be known for coming in 2nd. ;)

LOL woodchip

Kerry is kinda funny -- I've been paying pretty close attention to him, and I still feel like I don't have the slightest clue who he is or what he's about. At least with Howard Dean, I got a feel for who he was and where he was coming from. With Joe Lieberman, I got the same understanding. With Kerry, nothing -- he's running as a populist, but I can't seem to find any common ground, because I can't figure out what ground he's standing on.

The problem I have with Kerry is similar. I know every politician (and even some DBB posters ;)) tends to use vague slogans that sound like they mean something but once examined, mean very little, but listen closely to Kerry's *Bringing Change To America* nonsense and you'll see what I mean. He says nothing. It's one *call-to-action* cliche' after another that could mean almost anything, or nothing. It's like it's all being intentionally left blank. To me, that feels like he's hiding his agenda. At least with someone like Sharpton you know what things he would do. The American voters want something they can wrap their vote around. A definitive stand, a promise, a pledge, a plan, a central issue, something. I get the idea Kerry's handlers are telling him to dress conservatively, look contemplative, snipe at Bush, but commit to nothing and simply cross his fingers that he can ride the anti-Bush wave into the Whitehouse. If that were to happen, get ready for a December Surprise. I believe a President Kerry would be a very, very different person than the *impression* he's presenting on the campaign trail.

With the sparsity of internet access in N. Korea, perhaps it would be fair to pencil in at least one vote for Kerry on behalf of Kim Jong-il (of the Righteous Pompadour and Majestic Jumpsuit). I submit the following in lieu of a mail-in ballot:
North Korea's state-controlled media are well known for reverential reporting about Kim Jong-il, the country's dictatorial leader.

But the Dear Leader is not the only one getting deferential treatment from the communist state's propaganda machine: John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic candidate, is also getting good play in Pyongyang.

In the past few weeks, speeches by the Massachusetts senator have been broadcast on Radio Pyongyang and reported in glowing terms by the Korea Central News Agency (KCNA), the official mouthpiece of Mr Kim's communist regime.

The shortsighted options in this poll are an example of shortsighted voters that are the problem in the political system

How can "options in a poll" be an example of "shortsighted voters"? They can be a sign of the shortsightedness of the pollster or of voters in general, but to be an example of shortsighted voters, they'd have to *be* shortsighted voters, rather than poll options. You're slipping, Birds ;)

Now, you can always write in your vote, but the poll was designed in order to only count the votes relevant to what bash wanted to know. To call such a thing "shortsighted" is a sign that you didn't take the time to think about that.

That Bush v. Bush debate was pretty funny. :)

In the end, I think it comes down to which political party you prefer. Just like Bush changed to fit the Republican demands for the presidency, Kerry would also undergo certain changes if elected by the Democracts.
