Russian LAN Party - 22 April 2006 - St. Petersburg

MidiV recently indicated in this thread that there will be a Descent LAN party in St. Petersburg on 22 April 2006. He will post more details on the Russian Descent Outpost shortly.

EDIT: MidiV has posted some additional information here.

Basically, he is requesting that you post in this thread if you wish to participate (so you can be registered) or if you need assistance in making arrangements for accommodations. Hotel arrangements have been made for Russian Federation citizens, but he will try to assist others from outside the R.F as well.

An announcement concerning the exact site of the event within St. Petersburg will be made a couple of weeks prior to 22 April as details have yet to be worked out with the computer club.

MidiV has posted a short video, a ZIP file with stats, and a number of JPEGs from the event here:

Thanks, MidiV!

wow someone of you is using this thingy.
Saw it in a store around here and thought of getting it myself ... can you recommend it? Is it an eight-way switch?

I use this http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductP ... _Id=157024

It is an upgraded version.

I love it. Don't use the d-pad though it is 8 way.

Looks like you had a nice lil party...

what about a group picture with the names of the pilots? The only name I could assign so far was the one from \"lisa\" :-)

I can help (I think).

If you look at all_finished_3.jpg, from left to right we have:

Ray
MidiV
McSeam (Oleg)
Lisa
FC (Roman)
Rider (Sergej)
Dustpan

Hukka (Sergej) was also there, and he can be seen in hukka.jpg and before_start.jpg (far right).

How did I do, MidiV?

No, I'm not there, but then we wouldn't want me to break MidiV's camera, now would we?

Actually, like Suncho, I would like to go to a Russian LAN party at some point, but the time hasn't been right so far.

I do think it's cool to see the series being played in other parts of the world though, and that's why I make a point of posting info and links to mirror MidiV's posts concerning the LANs on the Russian Descent Outpost. Same thing you do for the German LANs.

MidiV has posted pictures with name captions in the past for some of the previous Russian LANs, but he may not have had time to do so on this occasion.

Akula65, you're right, and thanks for posting!

It's really nice to see any comments about our small parties here on DBB.
Two images with name captions were added recently:
http://rdo.unirep.ru/partyb/all_finished-with_names.jpg
and
http://rdo.unirep.ru/partyb/all_finishe ... _names.jpg

McSeam was playing with Nostromo. I can't say anything about it but he likes it. And McSeam was shooting the video (very poor quality, i know. I have forgotten to bring my own DV camera and shoot really cool mega-vid :) next time, though...)

They are looking into online servers as you can see from the following threads on the Russian Descent Outpost (the first thread is titled \"Descent 3 Game Servers on the Internet\"):

Took a little Babelfish use to get through that first thread, but I think I managed to get the gist of it. It's great to see that they're looking into joining some online games; hopefully, they can manage to find a server or two to which they can get a decent ping. It's really humbling to see how a simple computer game can bring people from all across the planet together. :)

Yes, you could find us online from time to time.
As i know McSeam plays regularly.
It's cool that community is still alive!
